Construction: Buildings: Carpark

Utilising OneSteel's products and approach, solutions can be developed for the most difficult and exacting requirements of form and function.

While a steel-framed composite carpark can provide a lightweight and cost efficient structural solution, construction utilising OneSteel's extensive range of reinforcing solutions can also significantly contribute to the economy of such buildings. 	Albury Commercial Club (November 2002) When the Commercial Club in Albury needed to increase their parking facilities to cater for significant expansion, they still wanted to retail a large portion of their existing car spaces for their patrons while the work was carried out. While building the new 2 level, 5,000 square metre carpark over an existing 2 level (underground + on-ground) carpark, the project architect, Robert Simmons of Teilion Pty Ltd Architects, said that; “The building is the first multi-level carpark in Albury. The need to keep 60% of the existing facilities open and the short construction time frame dictated a steel solution. We contacted OneSteel in the first instance who provided design guides and a list of existing steel carparks in Sydney, which I visited. The OneSteel publications provided accurate design options, allowing decisions to be reached quickly with minimal effort”.
